Last Thursday morning, I was reading my morning paper while munching a pancake sandwich at Jolibee when I chanced upon this interesting news article.
It presented some findings of a study done by Professor Charles Gebra of the University of Arizona. The study was done at the university campus, in New York, in LA, also in San Francisco, Oregon and in Washington D.C.
It was funded by Clorox Co., of course the makers of the famous bleach and stain remover. The bare conclusion of the study: office desks harbor more bacteria than the average workplace restroom. Diyos ko, mas marami pang bacteria sa drawer mo kaysa sa CR sa second floor!
Interestingly, the study also concluded that women have four times the number of bacteria in and around their desks than their male counterparts. Mas mahilig daw sa abubot at sa mga chichirya and mga chicks, so they evidently attract more bacteria. Bisyo na siguro nila ang magtabi ng mga Choc-nut at Chippy.
Although women’s desks generally look cleaner and more orderly than men’s desks, they have more knick-knacks and keep more food in their drawers. In the study, it was established that 74% of women kept food in the drawers of their office desks.
Sabi pa ni Professor Gebra: “If there is ever a famine, that’s the first place I will look for food”. Sigurado daw, he will survive.
Can you imagine – the average office desktop has 400 times more bacteria than the average office toilet seat? Siguro dahil mas madalas pang linisin ng mga green boys yong CR kaysa sa mga tabletop natin.
Speaking of bisyo, I remember a guy who visited his doctor for a check-up.
Tanong ni Doc: Nagsisigarilyo ka ba? “Hindi po, Doc.”
Umiinom ka ba? “Hindi rin po, Doc.”
Nambababae ka ba? “Lalong hindi naman, Doc.”
If that is the case, ika ni Doc, you should not be in my clinic, you should be in heaven!
